A lot of my work as a wedding photographer based near Skipton in North Yorkshire involves spending time in the glorious Yorkshire countryside!

So when my wedding couples want to head out into the Yorkshire Dales for their engagement shoot, it’s always something I’m really happy to do. I think I’m a countryside girl at heart!

Anna & Stephen have planned their wedding day at Yorebridge House in the Yorkshire Dales so there was no better location for their pre-wedding shoot than in a Yorkshire Dales village.

So we met up in Kettlewell on a sunny Sunday.

I always like to start with a cuppa and a chat through the wedding day plans. If I haven’t met my couples before this point, it gives me a chance to get to know them and the day they have planned. This is also when I talk through the schedule of the wedding day, so that I have a clear picture as to where I will be and at what time on the day. This is really important, as whilst my style is very much a relaxed style of photography, I still need a clear structure for a wedding day so that I can work efficiently and effectively – and also unobtrusively.  

Once we’ve had that chat, we then head off for a wander and find some lovely locations for some relaxed portraits. Anna and Stephen asked me if they could bring their children along and that’s absolutely fine. I just usually ask my couples to have someone with them so that I still have the time with them as a couple – as that’s an important time too on the wedding day itself. The more relaxed a couple feel with me as their photographer, the better!

Anna and Stephen were brilliant. They really trusted me to explore some of the fabulous and quirky locations in Kettlewell and this is also great news for their wedding photography too as I always like to seek out something a little bit different for wedding day portraits.
