As a recommended wedding photographer at Fountains Abbey, it’s just such a privilege to work at this iconic North Yorkshire location. I’ve worked there for a number of years now and it never ceases to amaze me every time I return!

It really doesn’t get much better in terms of the backdrops available, the sheer vastness and scale and the history behind this National Trust property in Yorkshire.

Sue and Andy’s wedding day was a pleasure to capture; it was intimate, stylish and full of laughter – what’s not to love?!

I was with them from just before their ceremony, during their drinks reception and for their photographs of course around the Abbey ruins. I then left them to continue with their relaxed celebrations into the evening at Swinton Park – another beautiful wedding venue in Yorkshire!

Sue’s son and daughter played key roles in the day and this made things all the more special. Sue arrived in style and her son and daughter were ready to accompany her down the aisle.

I knew Sue and Andy wanted a relaxed and informal approach to their wedding day and so my style of wedding photography suited them nicely. And whilst I love to create beautiful portraits of my brides and grooms, I like it to still feel relaxed and natural with not too much posing or direction from me. Let me tell you, Sue and Andy needed little direction, they were just naturals in front of the camera!

So after a very special ceremony at Fountain’s Hall, they had drinks and canapés in the tranquil Herb Garden before we headed off for their portraits around this fabulous setting. Sue had come prepared with her wellies, so we were all set! I do seem to attract welly wearing brides which is always great news for the kinds of countryside locations I often work in. That means that we’re not worrying about things getting too dirty along the way! It also means we achieve some really unique photographs too.

If you’re thinking about wedding photography at Fountains Abbey or in North Yorkshire I’d love to hear from you.
