I knew when I met up with Elise and Danny for their pre-wedding shoot at Bolton Abbey, that we were going to get on. Firstly they had a dog – that’s me sold already! And secondly, they’re just a super lovely couple who you can chat along with and have a laugh with too. So after a cuppa, we headed on down to the river for some relaxed portraits with the two of them and pooch. So that when it came to the wedding day itself, we had a good rapport and everything was nicely relaxed.

The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey is a gorgeous setting for a Yorkshire Dales Wedding. I sometimes can’t believe I’m literally only 15 minutes away from this idyllic location and as a wedding photographer it’s always great to be just down the road and therefore knowledgeable on the area and familiar with the venue too.

I joined Elise first of all whilst she and her bridesmaids, Mum and Mum in law to be, were busily getting ready. I do love this part of a wedding day as it’s always full of excitement, mixed with one or two nerves of course. And I like to capture the full range of emotions. Once the groom and his best man arrived, I headed on outside the venue to join them for one or two relaxed shots just before they headed off to the ceremony room.

Being a wedding photographer means you’re stepping into people’s lives at such a key point and I always feel humbled when brides and grooms choose me to capture their day – it is a responsibility and an honour in equal measure.

Emotions did run quite high – understandably – and no more so than when Elise’s Dad saw his girl for the first time in her dress. Capturing these kind of moments does need concentration on my part as it’s very easy to get carried away with the emotion – but of course my job is to capture it! I do have a little cry sometimes from behind the camera I must say.

The Yorkshire Dales and Bolton Abbey are such favourite locations of mine as a wedding photographer and I always love to work in these areas. The country house setting of The Devonshire Arms is both stylish and intimate and Elise and Danny chose a really beautiful style for their day which really fit in with this renowned Yorkshire wedding venue.

With lots of laughter throughout and all rounded off with the groom singing and playing for his new wife, made this a genuine, emotional and relaxed day with all the right ingredients for Elise and Danny to start off their married life together – just perfect!

If you’re looking for wedding photographer at The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey or a wedding photographer in the Skipton area, I would love to hear from you. If you have a dog, that’s always a bonus! If you don’t, I’d love to hear from you too!
