Welcome to my brand new blog! And I’m delighted to share with you a very special wedding day in West Yorkshire at a fantastically unique venue.

It was so lovely for Kate and Chris to ask me to capture their wedding day. They described to me such a relaxed, laid back day that it sounded just a perfect wedding for me to photograph. Added to that was the venue they chose in Halifax, which is a converted Victorian mill at Dean Clough and a fabulous location for photographs.

A chic industrial wedding venue surrounded by mill buildings, archways and brickwork – how could I not love to shoot there?! And of course, Kate and Chris were just a treat to work with. Can you tell Chris was a happy man that day? I think he spent a lot of time literally jumping for joy!

So we started off at Shibden Mill Inn where Kate and her team were getting ready. I love this location too – tucked away in Calderdale and steeped in character with bedrooms that are just so beautiful and inviting.

We then headed off to Kate and Chris’ local church for their ceremony before arriving at The Arches for a chilled out drinks reception. And yes everything was “ish” as you can see on the timetable sign. How brilliant! No rushing, no stressing, just a day to enjoy and remember with all their closest family and friends around them.

And who can say no to a fish and chips wedding breakfast created by the brilliant Eat Me Drink Me team complete with Sarson’s vinegar on the tables for guests to enjoy? What’s not to love??!

As a wedding photographer working in Yorkshire I have to say this is one of the most professional and helpful wedding venues I have worked with. The Mode for Events team at The Arches really do go the extra mile to create a bespoke wedding day for their couples. Nothing is too much trouble and they looked after me and kept me so well informed as to what was happening throughout the day, I couldn’t have asked for better.
