One of my first weddings of 2021 just a few weeks ago, was a beautiful day at Tanfield House, near Ripon. Part of Riverside Wedding Venues, this exclusive use country house in North Yorkshire hosts couples looking for seclusion, a wonderful riverside setting and a tailored wedding day service provided by their experienced team. As a wedding photographer in North Yorkshire, this is just the perfect combination of countryside chic and relaxed personal charm to capture. It was my first time working at this lovely venue and I have to say, it was ideally suited to my style of natural wedding photography!

I won’t talk too much about 2020 in this post, but it’s fair to say my couples have been on a rollercoaster ride (and I’ve joined them)! as far as their wedding bookings have been concerned. None more so than Becky and Lee, who not only had their date changed, but due to circumstances beyond their control, their venue changed too! However, this did not deter them from pressing on with cool heads and organising the style of wedding in the Yorkshire countryside that they wanted. With a maximum of 15 guests and with outdoor wedding receptions only at that point, I don’t think they could have had a more fitting celebration of their love for each other. It was stylish, elegant, full of laughter and they were joined by their closest family and friends. For me, small weddings are some of the most special days to capture.

I joined the couple just before their ceremony – which took place in one of the elegant rooms at Tanfield House. This wedding was adorned with simply stunning flowers created by The Rarified – a hugely talented floral design business. As a flower loving photographer, it was a treat to capture a ceremony filled with scented blooms in a soft colour palette that looked so at home in this setting. The statement floral arch installed down by the river also added such a beautiful frame for my couple’s portraits later on in the grounds.

Becky & Lee were fabulous to work with and I’m so pleased that they had such a special wedding day in the North Yorkshire countryside. Here’s what they had to say when they received their finished photographs:-

“Kathryn really made us feel at ease when taking our wedding photos. She was so relaxed and was great at helping out with a bit of direction which is just what we needed. The colours and composition of the photos are beautiful and we love how she so skilfully captured all those natural moments. Thanks so much!”
