Why do I love black and white portraits so much? Why do I love black and white portraits so much?

I think by now, most people following me will know how much I love black and white photography …. because it features quite a bit across my feed!

But why?

For me black and white is timeless ~ it doesn’t matter how far into the future you look back on black and white images, they will still feel true and current.

With black and white pictures, there are fewer distractions from the focus of the frame - as opposed to colour where the viewer might be taking in more of the background because of the colours within it, with black and white, that’s much less so.

And finally for me, I love the emotion and mood that comes with black and white ~ and I’ll always supply my clients with a mixture of colour and black and white treatments in their collection.

So tell me, do you love black and white photography too? 🖤🤍

My top 3 tips for enjoying your wedding day portra My top 3 tips for enjoying your wedding day portraits….!

1. Relax and be yourselves ✨
~ I love to capture you as “you” and I want you to look back and remember how you felt ~ in a good way! (there are no awkward poses required from me)!

2. Allow enough time for these special moments to be captured forever ✨
Your drinks reception is usually the key time for your portraits, so my advice would be to keep your group shots to a compact number so that you have time together like this.

3. Trust me ✨
My eye on your wedding day is what’s working very hard; looking for the best light, location and backdrop for these photographs. If you’ve chosen a venue that has a beautiful outdoor setting, don’t forget to think about the right footwear for getting around that setting too! 🌿

If you’ve found these tips helpful, why not save this post and I’ll come back with more soon! 😀

Hello! I thought I’d say hi and, for anyone wh Hello!

I thought I’d say hi and, for anyone who doesn’t know me, introduce myself 👋🏻

I’m Kathryn, photographer, dog lover, pianist, garden enthusiast, fan of flowers, amateur furniture painter and theatre-goer.

That list isn’t exhaustive but it gives you the gist!

I love the countryside and often you’ll see that featured in my work.

I work mainly on location and in natural light and my style of photography is very much about capturing beauty in moments.

I’m currently rebranding ~ so it’s a big project going on behind the scenes as not only is my business name changing but I’m also creating a completely new website.

I can’t wait to share it all with you ~ May is my launch month as well as my birthday month so it’s a good time to celebrate this new chapter I’m entering!

Thanks so much for keeping on following my work and sharing, commenting and liking. Instagram isn’t a smooth ride for small businesses these days so your support is always appreciated.

Back soon with more news and images!

A little story …. Today I made a wreath. I want A little story ….

Today I made a wreath. I wanted to have something to mark the Coronation with a natural feel ~ I think King Charles may approve! 😉🌿

All the plants are from my garden so they haven’t travelled anywhere, I’ve re-used making materials where I can and the little white flower (Iberis) was originally in my Mum’s garden. I managed to take a cutting from it and it has survived in a trough in mine 🌿

So in memory of my Mum, who would have loved to see the Coronation, this wreath has a special place on my garden gate 🌿

Here are a few of its pretty details including Bluebells, Hellebore, Dicentra, Tulips and Pieris and of course Iberis 🤍🌿
