“Kathryn’s photography absolutely blew us away. The collection she shot for us had absolutely everything – natural relaxed moments, laugh out loud shots, tear-jerkers and photos so nicely composed they look like works of art. Having her as part of our day was a pleasure, and she somehow managed to find the time to keep us all calm and offer words of advice in the craziness of the day.
Our friends and family have said they’re the best wedding photos they’ve ever seen. Kathryn, we can’t thank you enough!”
Wow, it’s just so humbling to receive such beautiful words from my clients. Jo & Dan were a total pleasure to work with and their Tithe Barn wedding day in Bolton Abbey really couldn’t have gone any better.
I first met Jo & Dan over a year ago as they wanted to have their engagement shoot at Bolton Abbey – obviously because it’s a gorgeous location, but also to test out what the weather might be like at the same time of year as their chosen wedding day. Now, of course, as a wedding photographer in the Yorkshire Dales, I’m pretty used to having most conditions thrown at me on a wedding day (sometimes every season in one day)! so it was no surprise that Jo & Dan’s engagement shoot was in fact a rainy one. But…..what that gave us was an idea of what we could achieve despite the weather. And would you believe it – the wedding day itself was awash with…..sunshine! Yay! In fact it was a warm day and their wedding guests could spend time down by the river, soaking up the historic North Yorkshire surroundings before heading to the Tithe Barn for the wedding celebrations. Being a wedding photographer based just down the road from Bolton Abbey means that I’m really familiar with the area and it’s also a special place for Jo & Dan so I wanted to make sure that I worked hard to achieve the photographs I knew they wanted.
Jo and her bridal team got ready at The Devonshire Fell Hotel – another super Yorkshire Dales wedding venue and where I’m also a recommended photographer so again, I was on familiar territory which is always lovely. After a busy morning of wedding day preparation, Jo was ready for her ceremony with Dan at the beautiful Bolton Abbey Priory. As a wedding photographer in Skipton, this has to be one of the most beautiful churches in the area – and with the Abbey ruins as a backdrop, just a stunning location for weddings in Yorkshire.
It was my first time as a wedding photographer at The Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey – it’s a relatively new venue and so I was excited to work there – and wow, what a venue! It has everything you would imagine for a rustic barn wedding but with what you might call, rural finesse, it really is a sight to behold and a beautiful space. Here are my lovely couple’s wedding day highlights and with thanks to my second shooter for the day, Catherine Kerr who captured a very treasured image as I said my goodbyes at the end of the day to Jo & Dan – a truly special moment for me.
Jo and Dan, thank you for being a wonderful couple to work with and for the kindest words you could have sent me after receiving your wedding photographs.

A wedding seems to be over do quickly but your photographs bring the day alive over and over again. We can relive each moment and feel the joy, just like a beautiful story book. Thanks for the memories. A proud Grandma x x
