Kate and Mike’s wedding at The Black Swan Helmsley was a super stylish day! From Kate’s stunning bridal look to the floral designs of the talented Yorkshire florist Rose & Spade to the Yorkshire market square location of the renowned The Black Swan, it was a day full of creativity and love.

The ingredient to the day that didn’t quite fit Kate and Mike’s ideal, was the weather, in that it rained pretty much all day! I think they call that flaming June! But…..we still managed to get outside for a brief time to shower them in confetti and to head off for some gorgeous portraits in the beautiful Helmsley Walled Gardens.

Kate and Mike knew they wanted some relaxed portraits in the gardens and so we were determined to get there! By hook or by crook we did, and sheltered in the glass house which gave us both cover from the rain and some great light too! If you look closely at Kate and Mike in these pictures, you’ll see that they’re braving the rain as it landed on their dress and suit!

As a wedding photographer in the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding areas, I have the privilege and pleasure of working in some fantastic countryside locations, including weddings in Bolton Abbey, in Skipton, Ilkley, York and as a Harrogate wedding photographer too, so when Kate and Mike asked me to capture their relaxed wedding day in Helmsley, I knew it was going to be really beautiful.

Kate is a creative person and her vision for the day really came together, with the colour scheme and all the finishing touches, which acknowledged tradition but with both a classic and contemporary slant, which blended perfectly.

I love to capture weddings in the Yorkshire countryside so if you’re looking for a wedding photographer at The Black Swan in Helmsley or a relaxed approach for your Yorkshire Dales wedding or at your North Yorkshire wedding venue, do get in touch via my enquiry form here.

In the meantime, here are some highlights from Kate and Mike’s North Yorkshire wedding day.
