If I was to sum up Sarah & Gary’s wedding day at The Devonshire Fell up in the Yorkshire Dales village of Burnsall, I would describe it as brimming with fun and laughter. You can probably tell from their pictures!
And it really was laughter-filled throughout the whole day. I knew it would be as I had met them on a couple of occasions previously, including their pre-wedding shoot which we did over in Ilkley. They’re just one of those couples you can chat along with at ease and laugh along with them too.
I knew they also wanted their wedding photography at The Devonshire Fell to be nicely relaxed without anything too staged or posed – which is just my style. In fact their affectionate name for me was their “photographer ninja” – I think it was the point at which I was laid down on the wet grass to get a shot, that this name really came into its’ own!
Their autumnal wedding day was full of beautiful colour and styled perfectly suited to this countryside location. Just what about those amazing, vibrant bouquets and the table styling for their reception was really quite stunning – by the wonderful Vanessa of Wildflowers.
Sarah & Gary really wanted the countryside to be very much part of their wedding day and the colours and Yorkshire Dales backdrop didn’t disappoint.
I spent some time with Sarah and her sisters whilst they got ready – a really special time to capture and witness; the support from Sarah’s sisters on her special day really did shine through. Sarah’s grandfathers also had big roles on the day and it was such a privilege to photograph key moments seeing her in her dress for the first time and also giving her away. I’m not ashamed to say that there was a tear or two from behind the camera.
This was a truly memorable, fun and relaxed wedding at one of my favourite North Yorkshire wedding venues. I’m so pleased to have met Sarah and Gary too, a real gem of a couple and a pleasure to get to know.
